Skin

The skin is the body's protective barrier, keeping out harmful pollutants in the environment. What most don't realize is that it needs daily preventative care.

Twenty Something

This is the time when skin is in its prime and needs to be treated with care. Although twenty something's have plenty of collagen and elastin in their skin, a basic skin care routine is essential. It should involve using a mild cleanser, a moisturizer and a sunscreen of at least 15. Smoking and drinking causes skin damage, as does the sun.

30s and 40s

Wrinkles may start to appear around the eyes and mouth and skin will thin as the rate of skin-cell renewal in your face slows down. Moisturize religiously and exfoliate to shed dead cells. But be sure to wash gently. Overzealous scrubbing can loosen tiny fibers beneath the surface that promote firmness. Decrease your stress level.

50s and 60s

After 50, your skin becomes thinner, drier and less elastic. Women in this age group need to be on the alert for skin cancers, which can appear in different forms. The skin's pigmentation may change - thinning in some areas and clumping in others. Try AHA (alpha hydroxy) lotions to refine complexion.

Sterling Silver

At this age, women need to accept themselves. Skin will droop because of a breakdown in fibroblasts, the cells that produce elastin and collagen. But diet and lifestyle changes like getting more sleep, cutting out caffeine and eating mostly whole foods will improve your complexion.
